Subject: [GV] Convention
Date: Wed, 10 Jul 2002 11:28:21 EDT
I am not GR, but have learned to love their spunk, history, stubbornness,
etc. This was our first convention in many years. We joined ca 1975. There
was just not enough time to see and do everything at the convention, so am
very grateful to you all for your input of your experiences. I, too, spent
time at the Iowa Research Center below the Capitol Bldg. There have been
complaints that it was over the 4th. I learned from this experience that it
would have been an excellent time for families to be together at the Embassy
Suites. They were attentive to our every need. Thank you John Groh and
family and the Wild Rose Chapter for excellent choices. Also, thank the
family for their untiring work to keep us all satisfied for the whole
convention. We came to love them all. Village Night was exceptional,
though wish there had been more in attendance. Thank Nick and Barb Bretz
for sharing so much information on Mom Stadler's village of Koehlar. I see
you all spell it Koehler. The meals were excellent, but couldn't figure out
why we were served the same chicken for the luncheon and banquet. If you
haven't attended for a long time, you should try to go to Yakima. We
attended there in 1985. Wonderful people and tours. You will feel so proud
to see all the wonderful banners from the different chapters - so many more
than when we last attended. Also, you will see many new faces and young
people than from the past. Our visit out west was a learning experience, so
I know you will be interested in the history of those who "went west."
Thanks to everyone who worked so hard to make Des Moines a success.
Wilma (Mrs. Eugene) Stadler
