3rd CANADIAN INFANTRY BATTALION (TORONTO, ONTARIO)

Organized:- August 6,1914
Strength:- 1,101
Disbanded:- September 15,1920

The battalion served in France and Flanders with the 1st Infantry Brigade,
1st Canadian Division from February 12,1915 until the armistice. Two mem-
bers of the battalion were awarded the Victoria Cross: Cpl.Colin Barren, at
Passchendaele Ridge, November 6,1917 and Lt.George Fraser Kerr,M.C,M.M., at
Bourlon Wood, September 27,1918.

Affiliations:- 124th, 170th and 204th Battalions.

Perpetuation:- The battalion is perpetuated by two Regiments of the Canadian

Army Militia: The Queen's Own Rifles of Canada and The Royal Regiment of

Canada.
