Hi Sue,

Thanks for the tip. I need enough for 50 men for three weeks so I guess
that it may prove expensive - and would probably smell too sweet as Whale
Oil was vile by all accounts!

Someone else has suggested mutton fat as a correct period alternative, but
I must admit it does not sound too appealing!
