All the indications are that your grandfather was indeed RAMC, though the
badge as you describe it is a bit of a mystery. Are you able to send me a
scan on and I may be able to identify this for you.

spent the morning on google looking at web sites with pictures of cap
badges. It is identical to the cap badge on the Royal Army Medical Corp
except that, rather than the crown on top of the wreath, it has either an E
or an F. Anyone have any ideas?
