Peter - thanks a lot - some good technical information on your recommended
site - will come in very useful. BUT, I've still got a problem ! (I mean
apart from the problem that anything to do with the sea is pretty much a
mystery to me - if it doesnt march, carry a rifle, and go "over the top"
then ........ !).

There is a lot of material on the WW1 U-Boats in the PRO, some especially
good stuff in the files of the Admiralty Naval Intelligence Division. I've
sourced photographs of UC 48 and UC 52 there, and I've now found a series of
Admiralty "silhouette books" from the period which include the UC II class
craft of 1917. The problem is - the silhouette given for the class (UC 25 to
UC 79) doesnt match the photographs of the two vessels that I've got photo's
of - and the difference is significant !

To be fair to the Admitalty there is a covering note saying that there are
known to be two variant hull shapes for the UC II's, but they dont specify
which hull shapes apply to which boats numbered 25 through 79 - and as the
results of this are to be published it would be nice if I could be sure that
I was using an illustration which was the "right type" for UC 63.

Any ideas anyone ? - or is there a Naval list which may be able to help ?
(and I'm afraid that my German is limited to ................. well,
limited).
