Lesley:

The CD-ROM "Soldiers/Officers died in the Great War" and the Commonwealth
War
Graves Commission website both cover only those who died in the Great War,
and you
need to look elsewhere for survivors of the War.

NB: The CWGC site has WWI & WWII deaths for dates:
WWI: 4 Aug 1914 to 31 Aug 1921
WWII: 3 Sept 1939 to 31 Dec 1947
www.cwgc.org

The Public Record Office (PRO) London is releasing WWI British Army records,
and these will be finished by the end of August, 2002.
The service records are now avaliable for surnames A-F & L-Z.
The others are now due by:
G July 2002
H May 2002
I January 2002
J January 2002
K November 2001
Mis-sorts August 2002
See:
www.pro.gov.uk
On new items at beginning: go to "soldiers records"
Or go to "Research" then "Family History" then "Popular Topics"
for table of releases etc.

Yours, John Wilson (Wellington, New Zealand)
