There are three Tuxford on the AWM lists of the 1st AIF

2.5098 Pte Victor George Tuxford 54th Battalion enlisted 14/02/1915 returned
to Australia 19/10/1917 (Probably wounded) I can find little other
information about this man other than in a letter written in 1931 by Mrs. E
Tuxford see below for transcription
3.134 Sgt, Thomas Weston Tuxford died 21/06/1919. Buried at Waverley NSW.
This fellow was posted to the pay office at Victoria Barracks Sydney. He was
the father of Reginald Weston Tuxford (Your subject) See letter written in
1931 by Mrs. E Tuxford
Below is a transcription of a hand written letter by Mrs. E Tuxford to a Mr.
Robinson in 1931.
The letter was quite difficult to read and the transcription is accurate to
the best of my limited ability. It does give an excellent idea of the
anguish suffered by mothers around the world.
No 6 Durham St
Glenelg S A
March 25-1931
Mr Robinson
Dear Sir
I have filled in the Roll of Honour paper satisfactory.
The war has played havoc with our family, 6 of my brothers ***** went from
Stufaky?? Bay & Port Lincoln way SA. The Form displayed ******* 2 were
killed, 1 damaged for life, another with heart trouble and his leg blown
off. The mother of Willmont Basm Edithfiugh?? died in the mental hospital,
through the worry of her favorite son going. I lost my husband through the
war. He was in the pay office at Victoria Barracks Sydney, & must have
caught that dreadful plague that was raging at the time from 1 of the
returned soldiers. (Influenza) He was off ill a few days and died in
Military Hospital. I have lost my last son. My own heart is completely
broken down. Through handwork I support & educate my other children. I am
sorry to burden you with our trouble, but they all fully hard to bear remain
yours.??
Sincerely
E. Tuxford
