I am happy to see your post here. Your name seems familiar so maybe we have talked before. I am aware that Elihugh Shute moved to Carroll County, MS in the 1870s. Are you one of his descendants. Did you ever have an opportunity to meet the Honorable Ray Shute, former mayor of Monroe, NC? I think he probably accomplished more in his lifetime than most people have done. A few years ago during a Reeb-Rape reunion in Monroe I visited with Ray in his home. He experienced and contributed greatly to the history of not only his home town of Monroe, NC, but to Union County, North Carolina and in fact he was known by people like Franklin and Eleonor Roosevelt, Carl Sandburg, and numerous other historical figures.
