Janet, since you mention the Parks family, that is another question that many of my first cousins in Oklahoma and I am sure that some of third and fourth cousins in Georgia also wonder about. My grandfather born in Arkansas and one of his first cousins born a few short years before were both named William Parks Rape...both after their uncle Josiah Parks Rape. After learning about my grandfather's first cousin with the name I soon learned that ...whoops I just realized that Margaret Adams, who is one of my Georgia cousins is on this list so she will relate first hand to what I am writing about here. Anyway, I have often wondered where the Parks name came from when Josiah Parks Rape was given the name by Archibald and Mary Hancock Rape. It was obvious where Josiah came from but I still don't know about Parks. Possibly Margaret may know if there was a Parks family in Walker County that Archibald may have known.
