Very interesting this subject of feathers and the need of the Nobility to
procure such plumage. I have every reason to believe that my ancestors would
have been more than accommodating, at the direction of the Lord, on an
immediate and grand scale largly disproportunate to the need. Doubtless, the
biggest and the most vibrant in coloration would have been obtained, the
emphasis on the word "biggest".

My ancestors' only possible concern would have been in finding a "pot" large
enough to contain the reminents, since, of course, it was their concurrent
duty to keep the estate clean and tidy (smile).

To "walk softly and carry a big stick" had it's place and application then
as it does now.....
