Listers,

I was in Mt. Pleasant for a day. At the Library the Henry County
Genealogical Society had their newsletter posted that they voted in
September to disband as was no one doing active research. Earlier this
year they were going to disband but decided to have beginning
genealogical classes. Apparently there wasn't much interest. The HCGS
did most most of the cemetery, birth and death indexes in the 1970's.
As with other counties in IA the IA Genealogical Society did the actual
publishing of the books. Many of the members that did this work are
elderly and a new generation has not come forward. We should be
thankful for all the work they did. And because no one has come forward
in Henry County, few if any of the queries that are posted on this list
are answered.
