According to the more about this database information on ancestry, in the
1930's there were transcriptions done by the Works Project Administration
Graves Registration Project. According to the "more about this database" in
ancestry.com it was a rellief program created during the presidency of
Franklin Delano Roosevelt in the 1930's that provided employment for
millions of people during the Great Depression. All you have to do is click
on "more info about this database" on anything on ancestry to find what the
source is...
