Hello Holly:
First of all, I will tell you that I am on the Website,
too, but I live in Long Beach, Ca.
I was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa, back in 1930.
This afternoon I thought that I had cleared out all of my E-mails from this
Website, but I just got back from being out, and did I ever have all kinds of
e-mails from this Website!!!!!! A lot of them about the 1925 Iowa State
Census.
I have a copy of that year's State Census. I have a Brother who has lived in
the Bluffs, for all of his 73 years.
I have 7 Siblings, 6 of us were born in the Bluffs, and 1 of us was born in
Iowa City, Iowa. Our Parents "Broke up" back in 1938. I have found all of
my Father's information, from Birth, to the WW1, to his Marriage, to his
Death, Burial, etc. He passed away, here in Los Angeles, Ca in 1955. I had
"never" seen him again, after our Family Breaking Up.
I have his Medical Records from WW1, his Army Records (with his Honorable
Discharge) and all of his Social Security Records from the U.S. Government.
I got them from my letter writing to various Govt Offices, and with the help
of some "very nice" Freedom of Information Officers.
I have been trying to find the "whereabouts of my Missing Mother" for many
many years now.
Through an Obituary on an Uncle of mine, when he died in the Bluffs on the
15th of August in 1972, my Mother was "still alive", but where she might have
been, at that time is "unknown". I have no idea "WHO" made out this
Obituary, either.
After my 2nd Brother, who died in Omaha, Nebr on the 29th of September in
1975 (but he lived in the Bluffs), I rec'd his Medical Records and they tell
me that my "Mother had died of Unknown Causes".
I think, by hearing this news, that she must have died, sometime between this
3 year and 1 month's time. Again, no one seems to know "WHERE or WHEN she
might have died, nor do I know WHO supplied this information, on my Brother's
Medical Records.
I have sent for "DC" in both Des Moines (my Parents were married in the
Bluffs in 1922), and in Lincoln, Nebr, thinking that my Mother might have
stayed around our home State, but I had "NO LUCK" with this.
Now I must continue writing many many more places, to see if I can find her.
She would have been 96 years old, this past June. I have to have some "peace
of mind and closure in my life, to know what has happened to her all of
these years. I will continue to look for her, until the day that I die, and
never stop doing such, until I do, no matter what.
I eventually found all of my Brothers and Sisters (2 have passed away), over
the years. They were born from 1922 through 1939.
I am "So Happy" because I finally found my last Brother, "AFTER 62 years",
because he was "Adopted" years ago. I found him through an Adoption Office
in Des Moines. I got his "Adoption Records" on the 14th of June this year,
and on the 23rd of June, we were talking on the Phone with each other.
He had "NEVER" known that he ever had any Brothers and Sisters or Aunts and
Uncles, etc. He was "Very Happy", too. He has 5 Children, 22 Grandchildren
and 1 Great-Grandchild.
We have sent Pictures and Letters (copies of them that I have been writing
since 1982, all over this U.S. in order to find him, and we Phone and E-mail
each other all of the time. He lives on the Far East Side of Iowa and my
other Brother (of whom I have spoken in the first part of this E-mail) lives
in the Bluffs, the Far West Side of Iowa. My new found Brother "DROVE" clear
across Iowa, to have a Family Re-Union with him. An Article was written up
in our Hometown Paper about it. I just got a copy of it today.
Now, something else to tell you. I have a copy of this 1925 Iowa State
Census.
My Brother who is 73 (he is Blind), that I have spoken of in my 4th paragraph
of this E-mail, either went to the Library or the Court House in Council
Bluffs (he lives on the very same Street, as they are) and he was able to get
me this 1925 Iowa State Census. I am quite sure that he found it at either
one of these places.
My Parents and my 2 Oldest Brothers, (who have passed away) and both of my
Grandmothers are listed on it.
"NOW", here is what I could do for you, if you would like me to do it. I
could pull it out of my many many Notebooks, and see if I can find some
information on it for you.
If you want to tell me "WHO" the persons are, that you might be looking for,
this is what you will have to do ---------------------------
Give me their "Complete full names", their ages, their Birth Date, and every
kind of information that you "DO" have on them, and I will check and see if
they are on the 1925 Iowa State Census that I have.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What does "FHC" stand for??? Please let me know.
When I need phone #'s, addresses, for other Cities and States, I call up my
Local Library and ask for the Reference Dept, and I ask them for any kind of
information that I might need at any particular time.
I have only had my Computer for 6 months and I am having pretty good luck,
getting some things. Believe me, it is amazing what one can find, on this
Machine!!! I didn't even know "how to use one before".
Boy, I see where a lot of people "NOT" living in Iowa, but in other States,
wanting information from the State of Iowa. Did you used to live there,
maybe???
I must go now, and answer some more of these E-mails (it helps me to pass my
time away), and they have been helping me out a great deal, and if I can help
some else out, I will be happy to do so.
E-mail me soon and I will get back with you, take care, Shirley.
