Hi Helen. All I got was your address, but I assume you
wanted his obit?
Morris Marcus Cox 87,of the Western Home, formerly of
140 Bertch Ave., died at Covenent Medical Center of
natural causes.
He was born Sept. 21, 1914 in Des Moines, son of
Thomas W. and Etta A. Doreathy Cox. He married
Priscilla M. Schossow on April 30, 1946 in Waterloo
and she prceded him in death on Sept. 7, 1993.
Mr. Cox was a U.S. Army vetern serving during WW11
and was employed at the heat treatmant department of
John Deere Tractor Works for 31 years, retiring in
1977.
Morris was a member of the Boy Scouts of america and
earned the coveted Silver Beaver Award, also the
United Commercial Travelers, Amvets Post 49, Army
National Fourth Division, Disabled Veterns, Natioal
Council of Senior Citizens and the UAW Local 838 where
he held several offices, including Vice President.
he is survived by one son, Rickie L. "General" Cox of
Cedar Falls and one sister, Betty Pottorffat Bethany,
Mo.
he was preceded in death by his parents, 8 brothers,
Thomas, Gerald, Andrew, Willard, Jesse, Ralph, John,
and an infant brother; 4 sister, Velma Sloan, Sarah
Snyder, Minnie Cox, and Josephine Titus.
Services will be at 11:00 am Friday at Kimball Ave.
United Methodist Church with burial in Garden of
Memories Cemetery.
Full military rites will be performed by Amvets Post
49. Friends may call from 4-8 Thursday at the
Kearns,Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball and one
hour prior to the service at the church.
Memorials may be directed to the Kimball Avenue
United Methodist Church.
This was in the Des Moines Register last week in a
paid obit.
Then in last nites Waterloo Courier:
Raymond Francis Cox, 88, of Readlyn, died Sunday,
Dec.2, at allen Hospital, from complications of
pneumonia. Surviviors in clude his wife, Helen, two
sons, Craig of Waterloo and Darrel of Fairbank; seven
grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; he was
preceded in death by a son, Curtis, three brothers,
Vernie, John and Art; a sister Ella Burke; services
will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Dahl-Van Hove Schoof
Funeral Home, Cedar Falls, with burial in Elmwood
Cemetery in Dike, Iowa. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m.
today and from 9 a.m. at the funeral home.Memorials
may be directed to the Fairbank Methodist or the
family. Mr. Cox was a welder with John Deere and Co.,
Waterloo for 34 years, retiring in Dec. 1971. He also
farmed in rural Readlyn.
Doesn't sound like they were realted, but you never
