Hi, all!!
This discussion of names is very interesting, and maybe someone could help me
find an answer about my ancestor's names. On both my mother's and father's sides of
my family, there is a "recycling" of the same names, even on the same group of kids
in the same generation. For instance, on my mother's side her father and brothers
are Henry Otto, Otto Herman, Edward Herman and two girls named Hedwig and Hedwick
both with different middle names(one middle name was Louise and I have to look up
the other). On my father's side, we have Henry Alfred and Marlan Henry, and Anthony
John and Harold Anthony. The next generation back does the same kind of
"recycling". Is that common or is that a peculiar German habit? All the names I've
given are from from first generation Americans of German descent.
Any ideas? Thanks and I hope you are all having a good day!!
