Hi, Shirley,
Your email inspired me to take a look at my Dad's medals as I thought
some of those ribbons sounded familiar, even though he served in the
Army in the Pacific Theater. He too was awarded the Asiatic Pacific
Ribbon and the Victory Medal World War II, so maybe the Navy and the
Army had similar ribbons?

Dad served as a lieutenant in the 780th Amph. Tank Bn. I typed up the
information on Dad's Military Ribbons. The print was very tiny, and I
am quite confused about what each of the "alphabet" letters in front of
the ribbons or if I even typed it correctly (there were no commas or
any indication if it was part of the award or what):
3 bronze service stars on Philippine Liberation ribbon for Leyte
Campaign
ATZD 1 Bronze SV Star on Asiatic Pacific Ribboon for Leyte Campaigne
AuTA Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon 8 July 1944
AutZ Philippine Liberation Ribbon 20 Oct. 1944
ATZD Bronze SV Arrowhead, 20 Oct 1944
WDCIR 465 1944
ATZD Bronze SV Star on Aciatic Pacific Ribbon for Luzon Campaign per WD
Go 28, 10 Apr 45
ATZD 1 Bronze Sv Star on Asiatic Pacific Ribbon for Okinawa Campaign
AT20 Victory Medal per WD Instuctions
AT20 American Theatre Ribbon
Radio C GAFWES Pac 24 Oct 1945

Like Shirley, I would appreciate any insight from those of you who
understand military ribbons. Thanks!!

Ann
