I live in Maryland, USA and my Irish tradition was tempered a bit by the
German half of my ancestry. We had turkey and sauer kraut (very limited area
of Penna. and around Baltimore for a German tradition of that combination)
and the celebration was always climaxed with plum pudding. However my mother
never made it-she bought Crosse and Blackwell. At one time there was a
plant in Baltimore and it was easy to get but now days it is imported and
more difficult to find but there must be other Irish still having plum
pudding because it is stocked every holiday. My son would really be unhappy
if he didn't get plum pudding on Thanksgiving AND Christmas and topped with
brandy sauce, of course! Lois Z.
