My dad's people were Pennsylvania coal region Irish from Galway. In our
family we put the tree up a week before Christmas and take it down the day
after New Years. My wife's people are from the Tyrol so our Christmas Eve
dinner is "international", with dishes that always include her g-grandmom's
recipe for Polenta and Rabbit with gravy, as well as my own g-grandmom's
Bubble n' Squeak. After midnight Mass we come back home for Christmas
presents, Jameson's with coffee, home-made wipped cream and big black walnut
cookies.
