LAST WILL AND TESTAMENT OF ABNER JOHNS:

In the name of God, amen. I, ABNER JOHNS of the county of Rutherford and
state of Tennessee being in a low state of health, but of sound mind and
memory, blessed by God, do this 10th day of June in the year of our Lord, One
Thousand Eight Hundred and Twenty Five, make and publish this my last Will
and Testament in the manner and form following, that is to say, first item, I
give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Susan Johns five Negroes, Sam, Hannah,
Joe, Isabel and Lucy, them and their future increase, to her and her heirs
forever.

Item: I give and bequeath to my daughter Mary Johns, two Negroes, Blackman
and Esther, also one bed and bedstead, also one horse, saddle and bridle, to
her and her heirs forever.

Item: I give and bequeath to my daughter Roda Trigg Johns, two Negroes, Cesar
and little Judy, also one bed and bedstead, also one horse, bridle and saddle
to her and her heirs forever.

Item: I give and bequeath unto my daughter Sarah Anne Johns, two Negroes,
Washington and Harriet, also one bed and bedstead, also one horse, bridle and
saddle, to her and her heirs forever.

Item: I give and bequeath to my son William R. Johns one Negroe named ___,
one horse, saddle and bridle to him and his heirs forever.

Item: I give and bequeath unto Catherine Elizabeth Johns two Negroes, Harry
and Jack, one bed and bedstead, and also one horse, bridle and saddle, to her
and her heirs forever.

Item: I give and bequeath unto my daughter Susan H. Johns, two Negroes,
Patsey and Little Sara, and also one bed and bedstead, and one horse, bridle
and saddle to her and her heirs forever.

Item: I give and bequeath unto my son Franklin A. Johns, one Negroe by name
Sterling, also one bed and bedstead and one horse, bridle and saddle, to him
and his heirs forever.

Item: I lend my beloved wife Susan Johns all my land and plantation whereon I
now live during her natural life and at her death to be sold and divided
among all my children as named above.

Item: I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Susan Johns one small Negro
girl named Hannah in addition to those before named, also I give one note of
hand made payable to me by Joseph B. Johns, for the sum of four hundred and
forty dollars, to her and her heirs forever.

Item: It is my desire that Big Judy, Mary and her child shall be sold and so
much of the much of the money arising therefrom as will make my son William's
lot or division and that of my son Franklin A.'s lot equal in value to those
of my daughters, and if there should be any remaining of the sale of those
three Negroes the residue to be equally divided amongst the whole of my
children.

Item: It is further my wish and desire that all my property heretofore given
away should be kept together for the mutual comfort and support of my wife
and children until either one of them should come of age or marry, and
further it is my wish that if there is anything remaining of profit after a
comfortable support it be equally divided between my wife and children. And I
do hereby make, ordain and appoint my worthy friend, Joseph B. Johns executor
or this my last Will and Testament, revoking and disannulling all others
wills by me made.

In witness whereof I the said ABNER JOHNS to this my Last Will and Testament
have set my hand and seal this day and date first above written.

Signed sealed and published and delivered as his Last Will and Testament in
the presence of us: David Dickinson and John R. Wilson.

State of Tennessee, Rutherford County Court, July Term 1825:
The foregoing Last Will and Testament of ABNER JOHNS, decd., was duly proven
in open court at the above term by the oath of David Dickinson and John R.
Wilson, subscribing witnesses thereto and ordered to be recorded Sept. 10,
1825.
