Subject: [KYBARREN] THE BOOK SIGNING!
Date: Wed, 15 Sep 1999 19:08:33 -0500
As an update and for the new subbers.
If you're going to be in the Glasgow area Oct 9th, our 1st Annual South
Central KY Book Social is flying. The Museum of the Barrens (South Central
KY Cultural Center) will have it's new meeting room open so we'll have one
large room and lots of activities.
I am hosting this book signing especially for E. Clayton and David Gooden
of Tucson AZ who will be driving in with their books, A Fork in the Road
(Monroe Co novel) and Old Kentucky Talk and will be autographing these.
There will be a drawing for at least one of their books, plus live remotes
from WCLU-FM, and light refreshments.
Others participating include:
NEW: The Bell's Tavern Historical Park Commision. They will be selling
their brand new year 2000 calendar (hear it's great!!), tee-shirts with
Bell's Tavern on it and the limited edition lithograph print of Bell's
Tavern (this is a tie-in to our family too!)
NEW: Stan McKenney, local radio personality, will be selling his neat audio
tapes "The Floyd Collins Story". Remember Floyd is the cave explorer who
got trapped in Sand Cave in the 20's. And, we think he will be bringing
with him the brand new video produced by a team in Bowling Green - a
docudrama on the Floyd Collins' story. I have heard it is REALLY good -
Stan was in the movie. He is attempting to contact Roger Bruckner, author
of "The Longest Cave" and books on Floyd and other cave related books -
there is a possibility that he will be able to attend. I've met him - he is
a marvelous, knowledgeable man on caving!
Lynwood Montell - that noted author who has so many books in print on
folklore, ghost tales, Coe's Ridge, etc.
Norman Warnell of Edmonson Co - Mammoth Cave, It's Forgotten People and
hopefully, some books from the Edmonson Co Historical Society.
Cecil Goode, local author - World Wonder Saved (Mammoth Cave) and one other
of his books.
Metcalfe Co Historical Society - Their cemetery book and the Jr. Historical
Society booklet.
S. C. KY Historical Society - all their major books plus the large Beers
and Lanagan 1879 map (laminated).
Southern KY Genealogical Society - Warren Co - several of their latest
publications.
Hart Co Historical Society - Their new historical cook book and the
children's book about Fort Craig, "They Played Marbles" by Tres Seymour.
L E (Larry) Calhoun - local author with his book on this history of Finney
and Rocky Hill KY.
Me!
There will be a drawing for a free book.
Mark your calendars and try your best! Sandi
