Subject: [KYBARREN] OLD KENTUCKY FORTS

As most of you know, I run 3 more lists outside of these 2 - one being
called KYRESEARCH where I weekly post researching tips in KY- where to find
records, interperting old records, county formations - etal - about 262
tips out there. I normally post on Thurday mornings - it's a closed list
thus only one post a week from me.

Well - I just found something exciting in an older book at the library. The
book is called "Kentucky in Retrospect - Noteworty Personages and Events in
Kentucky History" 1792-1967. It was originally published in 1942 for the
Sesquicentennial of Kentucky and updated in 1967 by G. Glenn Clift with the
Ky Historical Society.

Anyway, in the back is a wondrous list I've been hunting for! I ran a
series on the old forts and settlements before statehood and during early
statehood days ... but so few names were ever shown as residents at these
forts. Well ...no more! In this book is a list, compiled by those who are
supposed to know - master lists of those living at the forts, names, dates
and relationships on many! I see a few names missing from other sources,
but am going to start posting these on KYRESEARCH beginning next week. I am
currently running a lot of background history on Virginia and people
(customs, laws, etc) which spilled over into KY, plus other articles.
Youl'll recognize many of these names!

If you haven't checked out the KYRESEARCH site, it would tickle me if you
would and I think you'll find something that might help you. I have many
posts on all the recorded Rev War soldiers from each county, where they
came from, where they served, when they applied for pension, who was still
alive in 1840, etc. and other "groovy" stuff (dates me doesn't it?!)

If you'd like to sub to the list, feel free or write me and I'll put you
on. There is no digest mode since there is just the one post a week.

Sandi
