    BIRD BRANCH — Lettie Mae Carty Partin, 92, passed away Thursday, Aug. 15,
2002, at Pineville Community Hospital. She was born July 16, 1910, in Knox
County, Ky., a daughter of the late Joseph B. and Nellie Downey Carty. She
was a member of Wasioto Baptist Church, and had been a homemaker. In addition
to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ed Partin.
Survivors include her daughters and sons-in-law, Betty and Sam Hurst,
Knoxville, Tenn., Jan and Leon Miracle, Pineville; grandchildren, Karen
Popham, Don Hurst, Susan Miracle, and Leigh Anne Eldridge;
great-grandchildren, Joshua Hurst, Abby Hurst, and Erica Thum; brother,
Joseph R. Carty, Whitley City, Ky.; and a host of other relatives and
friends. Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Wasioto Baptist
Church with the Rev. Robey Walters presiding. Burial will be in Pineville
Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Wade Bevins, Arthur Evans, Dennis
Woods, Gary Woods, John Woods, Marcellus Woods Jr., and Phillip Woods.
Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Jerry Woolum, South Bevins, Ralph Woods, and
the men of Wasioto Baptist Church. Visitation is from 6-9 p.m. Friday at
Arnett & Steele Funeral Home, Pineville, which is in charge of arrangements.
