Matilda Lucinda "Tilda" Kemplen, 79, Clairfield, died Thursday, September 25,
2003 at the Beach Tree Manor in Jellico. Mrs. Kemplen was founder and
director of Mountain Community Child Care Center and a teacher in Campbell and Bell
County, KY., and a published author.
She was preceded in death by her husband, James Elijah Kemplen; son, James
Elijah Kemplen, Jr.; parents, Arthur Lee and Nancy Siler Gay; brother, Thomas
Gay and sister, Alene Terry.
Matilda is survived by her son, Ralph Kemplen and wife, Betty, Roses Creek;
daughter, Christine Teague and husband, Jimmy, LaFollette; granddaughters,
Jamie Hall, Jacksboro, Tammy Terry and husband, Ricky, Roses Creek; grandsons,
Daniel "Bucky" and Brenden McKillop, Jacksboro, Briona Lucinda Hall, Brittany
Michelle Waldroop, Jessica Leann and Harmony Elexis Terry, Austin Ray Kemplen;
sister, Minnie Lambdin, White Oak; numerous nieces and nephews and she helped to
raise and loved dearly and a multitude of friends and loved ones.
Funeral services were Saturday, September 27 in the Chapel of Martin Wilson
Funeral Home with Rev. Thomas Willard Terry officiating.
Interment was Sunday, September 28 in Kemplen Family Cemetery in Clairfield.
The family received friends before the funeral on Saturday.
Martin Wilson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Bulah Mae Burns McCartt, 79, Speedwell, died September 24, 2003 at
Middlesboro A.R. Hospital. She was born January 31, 1924 in Bell County, KY. She
professed her faith in Jesus Christ at an early age and was a member of the
Friendship Baptist Church. She was a good homemaker, loved flowers, gardening, cooking
and talking on the phone.
Bulah was preceded in death by her loving husband, J.C. McCartt; parents,
John and Clara Burns; twin sisters, Geraldine and Willene Burns, sister, Betty
Partin; great-grandson, Spencer Mayes and daughter-in-law, Bessie Rains.
She is survived by her sons, Jerry and Bernice Rains, Kenneth and Kathy
McCartt, all of Speedwell; daughters, Bessie Jean Cadle Wascom and husband Bill,
Winder, GA., Judy VanBever and husband, M.O., Speedwell, Sandra White and
husband, Bill, Corbin, KY.; daughter-in-law, Dora McCartt, Speedwell; brother,
Arvillie and Verde Lou Burns, Speedwell; sister-in-law, Dollie Burns, Rockford and
a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, loving cousins and friends.
Funeral services were Saturday, September 27 at Reece Valley Chapel with
Reverends Larry Heck and Randy Boldin officiating.
Music was provided by Louise Hunter and the Friendship Singers.
Burial was in the Loy Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jason McCartt, John Day, Doug Cadle, Tony Cadle, Shawn
Cadle, Junior McCartt, Travis McCartt, Sam Hammond, Terry Rains and Mitchell ,
Honorary pallbearers were Randy Boldin, Larry Heck, Frank Rogers, George Hunter,
Jeff McGeorge, Jerry Perry, David Dobbs, Terry Dobbs, Jim Evans, M.O. VanBever,
Bill White and Bill Wascom.
Visitation was Friday, September 27 at Reece Funeral Home and Valley Chapel.


Cora Sue Mozingo, 65, Monroe Township, died September 28, 2003 at Monroe
Township, MI. She was born June 18, 1938 in Bell County, KY. She enjoyed fishing
and shopping. She was employed as a cook at various local restaurants and also
worked at the Monroe County South Center before retiring in 1990.
Cora was preceded in death by her parents, John C. Suttles and Upil Ellison
Suttles and several brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her husband, Zen T. Mozingo, Monroe, MI.; sons, Chuck
Mozingo, Monroe, MI. Zack and Debbie Mozingo, Monroe, MI., Christopher and Melissa
Mozingo, Dundee, MI., Brian Mozingo, Monroe, MI.; brothers, Harrison and
Janice Suttles, St. Helen, MI., Melvin and Kathy Suttles, Speedwell; sisters,
Linda McGregor, LaFollette, Shelva and Vernon Benge, LaFollette; five
grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Thursday, October 2 at 11 a.m. at Rupp Funeral Home,
Monroe, Michigan with Rev. Joe Bryant officiating.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Monroe, Michigan.
Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association.
