I use to live in Corbin. I can remember people talking about the railroad
saying they were going to move African American families into Corbin and there
was talk that they burned stakes in some peoples yards. When my aunt move
there in the 70's, she is mexican and dark complected. When she would get out to
go to the grocery or post office, there was many times when people would stop
her and make comments about watermelons and saying bad things to make her
leave. She still lives there. I never actually saw KKK, but heard tell about it in
Corbin
