Hi list members,

Seeking information on the O/ALDRIDGE lines that were in Breckinridge
Co., KY in the 1830's on. Particularly one William Lindsay/Lindsey
O/ALDRIDGE(any variant spellings) I will include what I have on him and
have questions about a William L. Aldridge listed on the 1860
Breckinridge Co., KY Federal Census with his wife Malinda and children.
Has anyone or is anyone researching this line. The name is the same,
however he had a different wife and three other children in Hancock Co.,

Lindsey is listed in a book, "Report of the Adjutant General of the State
of Kentucky" Civil War Vol. I, 1861 - 1866
For the Union Army:

There is a toombstone in the Cemetery on the Hill, at Hawesville, Hancock
Co., KY for a Lindsey Aldridge Co. D, 12th Ky Cav., no dates.
WILLIAM LINDSEY ALDRIDGE: (2)

Attention: The information on this person may not be correct. I strongly
feel that Lindsey Aldridge listed in Ruby Basham Aldridge's book is
William Lindsey Aldridge and is the same person as William L. Aldridge
born 17 November 1825 in the marriage records of Breckinridge Co., KY.
This info was found at Willard Library in Evansville, IN. And is sourced
as "Breckinridge County, Kentucky Records" Vol. 2 Cook from Marriage Bond
Book No. 6,
1866 - 1867. Page 112
"June 20, 1866 - William L. Aldridge, 40 (as of November 17, 1865),
carpenter, 2nd marriage, (father b. VA, m.b. Culpepper Co., VA), to
Angeline Bennett, 18 (as of July 11, 1866), (f. and m. b. Br Co., KY);
Warren P. Pool, bondsman; to be married June 20, 1866 at residence of
Warren Pool."
On 1 June 1999, I found at Hancock County Archives a divorce for William
L. O/Aldridge/Oldrich vs Josephine O/Aldridge/Oldrich. Various spellings
for the name within the documents. Lists marriage date 11 December 1858,
he is called Lindsey, William L., or William S. in the documents. She
apparently filed in 1859, then dropped the suit. Refiled in 1861-3. Lists
that they have 3 children, but no names are given. Apparently in 1861 he
deserted the family.
There is a marriage record for a William H. Aldridge and Josephine Clark
in Perry Co., IN Book 1, page 578 dated 11 December 1858. The same date
listed in the divorce papers.
Josephine Clark is listed in the 1850 Hancock Co., KY Federal Census with
her parents Joseph and Susanna Clark. Page 292, H-H 368 - 384.
Enumeration date: 26 August 1850
Lindsey is listed in the 1850 Hancock Co., KY Federal Census in the
household of Henry Priest and Ruth O/Aldridge Priest with his other
siblings.
1860 William Lindsay Aldridge not found.
1870 Wm.Eldridge is listed in Breckinridge Co., KY next door to his
brother Samuel Aldridge and listed as a Carpenter. The William L.
Aldridge in the 1860 Breckinridge Co. KY census is listed as a sawyer.
Could he have two families at the same time or is this two different
men???

Any advise will be appreciated.
Regards,
Virginia L. Aldridge
