I have a copy of John Spencer’s handwritten will dated July 1850.
The will was recorded into the
Breckinridge county Kentucky will book page 207. 8 & 9 in 1864. In his will
he states the following: To the children of Barney Fraize viz—John Fraize,
Mary Fraize, William Fraize and Jane Fraize…..William Fraize who is now and
has been for some time living with me…
I found the following in Cook`s Breckinridge county Ky., Marriage book,
BARNEY FRAIZE to Mahala Kelly, February 11, 1847 Cook)and the following in
the on line US census:
FRAIZE, BARNEY B 1850 GRAYSON CO. KY CENSUS
Barney B Fraize age 38 N farmer $400 b. Ky.
Mahala age 20 F b. Ky.
John age 10 M b. Ky.
Mary age 7 F b. Ky.
William age 6 M b. Ky.
Minerva age 5 F b. Ky.
Does anyone know if this is the same Barney in the will and if the children
are from a first wife? If so, does anyone know the connection between
BARNEY FRAIZE and John Spencer or his wife Christina? Minerva may be Minerva
Jane.
John Spencer also lists an ELIZA FRAIZE (March 1, 1830, David Fraize to
Eliza Frank, from Cook’s Marriage book) wife of DAVID FRAIZE …one share for
the sole and exclusive use and benefit of Eliza Fraize, wife of David
Fraize, free from the debts and control of her husband…the land on which her
husband and the said Eliza now resides…occupy and enjoy the same during her
life-and at her death…to her children. Does anyone know this connection to
the Spencers?
