Subject: From Fayette Co PA to the Pacific Ocean

All names below were from Fayette Co PA in 1800 census - mostly from
page 591 of the census.
These names (among many others) appear from time to time along with
BRUNERs in their westward movement (circa1780-1850 from Fayette to
Jefferson Co KY[1780-1790], then Hardin/Breckenridge Co KY[1790-1818];
then Orange[1818]/Lawrence[1820-30]/Daviess[1830-40]/Martin[1840] Cos
IN; then central IL including Dewitt[1840] and Knox[1840] Co IL); (or
circa 1840 from Fayette to
Tuscarawas[1850]/Defiance[1855+]/Harrison[1860] Co OH; to Tama Co
IA[1855-1880]; to Hancock Co IN[1885]). I am not related to all these
folks, but I think many listers will find their kin in the counties
addressed above, so I am sending this to a wide audience.

Other early Fayette settlers, not on page 591 of the 1800 census in
Fayette Co PA, who periodically appear in close association/ or at least
in same townships or counties, include: LYONS, SPENCER, BECKENBACH
(PECKINPAUGH), ACHENBACH (AUGHINBAUGH), SPANGLER, SPRING(K)LE, HICKMAN,
STOCKTON, HITE (HITT/HYDE), EASTER, WALTER, EICHER, RESLER, RIDENOUR,
GALLENTINE, SENEFF, SHALLENBERGER, KEEPERS, PURVIANCE, DAVIS. ARMS,
WOOLEY, REDMAN, and MEADOR - I don't recall these as being early Fayette
settlers, but they appear circa 1800-1830 in Kentucky and or southern
Indiana in the communities with many of these others.
Another whole group of names appears to have moved from Fayette Co
(probably Redstone Fort) to north central Kentucky (east of Louisville
into Nicholas, Fleming, Mercer, Bourbon, Jessamine Cos KY ), circa
1780-1810. These folk then moved north into east-central Indiana circa
1820-1850 (Clark, Scott, Shelby, Johnson Co, IN and local environs),
before moving westward. These include Glenn, Wishard, Ferguson, Smith,
Martin and some Dutch names - Brewer, Banta, Vories/Vorhies, Van Arsdal,
as well as Bruners from Somerset Co, Pennsylvania who are unrelated to
those who moved to Breckenridge Co KY (or so it appears to me).
Before 1850, many of these people show up in Missouri. From Missouri,
after 1850 (post-gold rush), they just scatter everywhere - from Texas
to Minnesota. And to the Pacific Ocean.
I don't know whether this'll be of any use to anyone, but it seems a
waste to not mention it. I actually just intended to send the Marquis
name to a researcher, but after looking at the implications of just this
short list of Springhill Township names, I thought otherwise. Good
luck.
