I'm looking for more information of some Gibsons I can trace to Breckinridge Co KY, Nelson Co KY, and VA. Hope you can help me add more details.
I have records on sisters Sarah (AKA Sally) Gibson (b Apr 16, 1816) in KY and Eliza Gibson (b bet 1806-1810) in KY who's father is William Gibson who was married to a Sally.
Here's a little more about Sarah/Sally:
-----------------
Several names appear. Sarah Ann Gibson is referenced in a KY book of marriages being married in 1840 to James H Halley. Sally A is listed in the 1850 census. Sarah N is listed in the book of deaths. Sally A is listed in the record of the cemetery. I'm speculating that perhaps her legal name is Sarah which is used for the marriage record and the death record, but she went by Sally.
From Breckinridge Co KY Deaths: Sarah N. HALLEY, 34, female, married, Doctor's Wife, b. Nelson Co. KY, dau. of William & (?) GIBSIN, d. 2/13/1852, Cold.
From Records of #89 Conner Cemetery Halley, Sally A. 4/16/1816 2/15/1852 W of Dr. James H.
--------------------------
After Sarah/Sally died, James H. Halley married her sister Eliza.
I believe the sisters had a brother James Gibson.
Although James HALLEY lived in Breckinridge Co, the William Gibson and his wife lived in Nelson Co, and were from VA. Here's more about them:
I believe William and Sally are the parents of Sarah Ann and Eliza. They are listed in the 1850 Nelson Co, KY, Census with Eliza age 40. They're listed with place of birth as VA, and Eliza is listed with KY place of birth. Sarah's death record lists place of birth as Nelson KY with father William Gibsin. The 1880 Arkansas Co, AR census with William Halley as head of household shows Eliza as his Aunt, age 74, place of birth KY, and her parents place of birth as VA.
While it seems unlikely, perhaps William left VA and swung through PA where your Joseph was born before arriving in KY where Eliza and Sarah were born.
Oh well. Let me know what you think.
