Subject: [KYBRECKI] Iron ore in Breckinridge in the 1800`s
Date: Wed, 3 Mar 2004 06:39:13 -0800
I noticed on a Breckinridge Co. map that there is a road named Iron Ore Road
or Lane. It was located sort of NW between Hardinsburg and Cloversport.
Was there iron mining in this area during the 1800`s? I know that coal
was shipped to England from Cloversport according to some information I
found on the internet. This also surprised me as I thought England had a
lot of coal. It also stated that the mines were owned by Englishmen.
