You all were so helpful in directing me to the Murray Graveyard in
Cloverport. I'll look forward to my visit in a couple of weeks. I
hope the weather in Kentucky will be nice.
If I have time I'd like to also locate the graves of my Huston
ancestors. They don't seem to appear in the Murray Graveyard lists so
perhaps they are buried in Hardinsburg. They did live in Hardinsburg
and Cloverport.
Here are the persons I'll be looking for:
Joseph HUSTON (1768-1813) and his wife Margaret ALLEN HUSTON (1776-1860)
Margaret did not remarry after becoming a widow when Joseph died. She
seems to have run an inn or tavern (according to Census records) but I
don't know if that was in Cloverport or Hardinsburg.
Thanks for any help and advice on a graveyard in Hardinsburg that dates
from this time.
Also, someone mentioned the old Murray homestead that is further down
the road from the Murray cemetery in Cloverport. Do you think this is
where Col. David Rodman MURRAY (1790-1871) lived?
I wish I had more time and could dig through old records in the county
archives, but alas I will probably just have the one day to cover the
Ditto Cemetery in Meade Co., the Murray cemetery in Cloverport and
perhaps a quick look at Hardinsburg. Thank goodness my brother knows
his way around the area and is willing to cart me around to all these
places.
Endless thanks,
Mary R. Davy
