Hi Matt,
I don't have a John F. MATTHEWS in my family tree, but that doesn't mean anything because I don't have everything!
I do know my MATTHEWS line was from VA. to Grayson, Breckinridge and Ohio Counties in Kentucky.
My line went to Wayne County, Illinois.
I know this doesn't help you much but hope something will
help with clues down the line.
