Sue - Thank you for your prompt reply. MaryCatherine Burgess (maiden name) is really a KY Burgess descendant, and we live in Edinburgh, Scotland. She is the gg-granddaughter of William Thomas Burgess (1818-1901). He is the link for us with the Robertsons and Halls. W.T.B. left Breckinridge Co. in the early 1860s to homestead in NE, taking much of his extended family with him. We are of course, interested primarily in the Burgess family. So:
William Thomas Burgess married: (1) Hannah French (d.1849), and had a. Permilia Wells [(1842-68) who m. Richard Franklin Hall and had Susan Thomas, Harriet Rebecca, William, & Lude]; b.Timothy, c. Mary Elizabeth (later Seaton), d. Emmaline James (later Claycomb). We have specific dates and descendants for some of them. (2) Mary Ann Jane Robertson (born Adkisson, 1820-81), who had by her first husband Louis (?) Robertson the following children: a. William, b. Sara Ann, c.LUCY CATHERINE, d. Nancy Jane. WTB. became their guardians on his marriage to their mother in 1849 (!) Together Mary R. and T.W.B. had: a. Timothy: b. Averilla; c. Martha (later Pate), d. Lillian (m. Arthur M. Robertson), e. John Bell [g-grandfather of MCB.), f. Richard.
It would seem from what you say that there were some Hall/Robertson marriages from these three linked family groups. This is all new to us and we look forward to hearing your side of the story!
We have never been to Kentucky, have no idea what Clifton Mills or Hardinburg look like, or why such an extended family farming 400 acres (?) should move North: the Civil War, perhaps? And where are you living? Sincerely. MaryCatherine Burgess and Peter Bell
