HI, would appreciate (any) helps with finding the 'smiths' in Breckenridge
Co. in late 1700s-early
1800s that could be my gg grandfathers parents or brothers, sisters.

John Grigg Higgin Smith b.1810-d. Macon Co Illinois in 1857. His stone reads
47yrs 3mos 14days
He was early doctor to Oakley Township/Decatur,Ill. along with a Doctor
Young.

He named his children after presidents and heros. My g grandfathers name was
George Washington
Smith, other sons were Andrew Jackson Smith and Henry Harrison Smith.

I believe the family had rough going as the children were rasised by other
families in area.
But when John died his will stated he had property(s) in Breckenridge Co
valued at 5,000 in
1857. I can only presume that it had belonged to the family and was willed
to his family upon his
death.

He also states as heir a son not listed in any Illinois census s - a Adam
S.Smith

He had at least 2 children by a previous marriage.(unknown spouse) these
sons were named Addison H.Smith b.1829 OH and Wesley D.Smith b.1837 OH

GG John was also listed as farmer in the early census-then later referred to
as Doctor.
His sons that went to Iowa,SouthDakota,& Kansas were farmers by profession
also.

I have attempted to find the possible transaction that gave the property in
his name but
unable to read the script of the times.

Another note maybe of mention- gg grandfather was involved in numerous
circuit court cases
in Macon co. I dont know if it was also possible that this was a common
occurance if and
when he could have been in Breckenridge co Ky also.

Would appreciate any efforts or advice this continued brickwall.

Thankyou
wayne
