I would like to post my information to the list in the hope that someone can help or advise on how I can research an ancestor of my Wifes in Breckinridge.
We live in England and it is the first time I have attempted to research anyone in the USA so my knowledge of reources available and how to access these is ZERO!!
I recently came across some old legal documents which were in my Wifes Family relating to a Mill which the family owned in Friskney, Lincolnshire, England.
One of these documents was an Indenture which listed many names and one of these was as follows.

JOSEPH ROBERT HOYLES of CLOVERPORT, BRECKINRIDGE, KENTUCKY, USA.

From research in the UK there is a Joseph Robert Hoyles who was born in Lincolnshire in 1829 and I suspect that this could be the man above.
When or Why he left the UK to go to the USA I do not know or even if he remained there.
I have searched the mailing list archive for the HOYLES name but none appears unfortunately.

Any advice would be most welcome to assist in tracking Joseph down.
