Hi all...
As of today, 2/12/2006, the first of two parts for the Big Spring UMC
Cemetery were put on the Tombstone Index. This covers the surnames Ammons through
Hodge. The second part will be up as soon as I can get each one typed up and
loaded onto the server. Once it is finished, it will cover the surnames
Huffines through Wortham. I still have roughly the back two or three rows
before it is totally photographed, so it will not be a complete transcription
once the second page is added to the Index.
And in taking a break from the cemetery transcriptions/photo
resizing/general page construction, I finished up another page and just added it to the main
Breck. Co. Archives page. It is a military photo page of individuals from
Breck. Co. who served during WW II and the Korean War.
My g-grandmother had a scrapbook she cut and pasted a lot of articles,
pictures, obits, marriage announcements, and a few births. It is from this
scrapbook that I've been able to "cut out" the individual pictures in my photo
program and put them on the Archives site. I know they are newspaper pictures,
but she didn't listed from which paper, the Irvington Herald or the Breck.
News, so I couldn't accurately list which paper or even a date. Being that she
and my g-grandfather lived in Irvington, I assume most if not all came from
the Irvington Herald.
There are some that are not of the best quality picture, as it is difficult
to make out much of the face. That is due to the copy machine at work being
an old one at the time of my copying the scrapbook pages. The scrapbook is
back in the hands of my cousin and I don't believe I will ever have the chance
to recopy the pictures. Hopefully the pics will help someone out with their
research!
Happy Hunting
