Hi all...
Here in a few I'll be adding the last remaining records for the Big Spring
Church records that Jess Scott has graciously donated to the GenWeb Archives.
It should complete the two register/membership books dating from 1848 up
into the 1900's. I'm hoping to get more information regarding other books that
might be available from the church to add to the site. I'll also be adding
the text and images from the letters that John Kasey received and were found
within the contents of the "John Kasey diary" donated by Pam Kasey. There is
someone presently transcribing the diary, so I'm hoping within the coming
weeks to start getting that typed in and added to the site where the images are
currently residing.
Wanted to let everyone know that Judy Hartsock and I are going to work
together on transcribing the 1870 census for Breck. Co. While the LDS site has
the 1880 census, we are going to transcribe it as well so that the complete
1870 and 1880 census' for the entire Breck. Co. area will be available for you
all to read on the Archives site. I still haven't found a way for images to
be provided so you can see the actual along side the transcription, but at
least the transcribed information will be on the Archives site. With having the
"search" element on the site, that might help... or when you are on the
actual transcription page, you can hold down "Ctrl" and press "f" and it will
give you a search box... allowing you to search that entire page for a name. If
anyone else wants to work on the 1900 or 1910 census' for Breck. Co., let me
know. We could really use the help!
Before I close, I want to say a BIG thank you to Judy for her hard work.
She helped transcribe one complete book of the Big Spring records, two letters
found within the John Kasey diary, and now the 1870 and 1880 census
transcriptions. Your help has been invaluable and I can't say thank you enough for
all you've done to help preserve the Breckinridge County history and it's
people so they are never forgotten!!
Happy Hunting....
