Hi there Bob...

Well, if I had a book for the 1870 census to check it against, that would be
a good idea. Unfortunately I don't have one... I have only the 1860 census
in print and I don't have census film of that year. Due to copyright laws
for books and/or purchased CD's, some companies/individuals can't or won't
grant permission for images or whole books. I've thought about contacting one or
two specific individuals regarding census books that they've abstracted and
written, but I don't have the contact information to ask for their permission
at this time.

Regarding images, I have looked into one company and possibly getting
permission to place the images with the transcriptions that Judy and I will be
doing (as well as Wilma, she just volunteered last night)... but they have a
disclaimer stating that they have a format with which the census' they sell are
photographed in, and as such it is considered copyrighted and they consider it
"cutting into their profit margin". So, I'm hoping a miracle comes up
somewhere along the way in which images of the census' can be placed online for
viewing, just like the 1850 images are available for anyone to view. Due to
copyright laws, though, my hands are tied.
