Hi all....
Wanted to write and let everyone know about updates and additions to the
Breck. Co. GenWeb Archives. Wasn't able to get anything typed and uploaded last
weekend due to a family emergency, but should be back on track now.
Wilma Kaplan has started transcribing the 1880 Breck. Co. census (after a
few kinks were worked out). Judy Hartsock and I are working on the Bewleyville
District portion of the 1870 census at present. I'm still checking to see
if we can upload the transcriptions by district, or if it has to be the entire
census year. If it's by district, then hopefully within the next couple of
weeks the Bewleyville District will be up.
Again, if anyone would like to transcribe the census', email me privately
and we'll see what we can get working. It would mean downloading the required
program that GenWeb has for transcribing (it seems to make it much easier),
and it doesn't have to be for a whole census.... it could be for one district
in one particular year. Also, I know I have records that can be
added/transcribed, so if a census undertaking isn't within someone's scope of helping, I
can scan records and send via email or if it's a "big" undertaking I can scan
and burn to a disc and send snail mail. For me, it's about getting what's
out there, up and on the site to help as many researchers as possible.
Hopefully what's gleaned on the Archives site is prompting some new finds
for you all, and is resulting in new cousins... new leads... new info... and
research/copy requests for the ladies at the courthouse in Hardinsburg.
Here's the updates/additions:
Obituaries/Death Notices (updates):
Pages "A", "B", "C", "D", "F", "G", "H", "K", "L", "M", "N", "P", "R", "S"
Court Order Books (addition):
Dr. William Hall account book listings; pages 136, 137, 138 (this is
incomplete at present, with 4 or 5 more pages to transcribe. This is a virtual
"Who's Who" within Breck. Co. and around the Custer area of patients Dr. Hall
administered to.)
Happy Hunting!
