If you do the research, you shall discover that they lived in what is known as "The Cut-off" and near to what was then Rough Creek and is now Rough River, Kentucky, not far from Falls of Rough. The phrase "Cut-off" refers to the fact that in January of 1831, the Kentucky Legislature removed that area of land known as "The Cut-off" from Ohio County, Kentucky, and made it a part of Breckinridge County, Kentucky. Since the marriage in question was before 1831, "The Cut-off" couple, Matthews and Clark, were married in Ohio County, Kentucky.
