Hi Jet,

Well, I figure he had to be born about 1774ish.

1. I am not sure if this is him in the 1830 census:? *If so, it confirms
his age.*

1830 Census of Carter Twp, *Spencer, Indiana*

Edward Askin, 1m 5-10, 1 m 50-60 (born 1770-1780), 1 f under 5, 1 f 15-20, 1
f, 20-30, 1 f 40-50 (born 1780-1790)

2. Contributed by Breckinridge County Archives, Hardinburg, KY 40143 *This
must be his father/uncle?*

THE MONONGAHELA OF OLD; or Historical Sketches of South-Western Pennsylvania
to the Year 1800, by James Veech (as found in Early Landowners of
Pennsylvania: Land Tracts Transferred from Virginia to Pennsylvania
Jurisdiction, 1779-1780 by Sharon Cook Mac Innes.) Appendix to Chapter VII -
List of Settlers in Fayette and in contiguous parts of Green, Washington and
Westmoreland Counties, *in 1772*: Copied from the offficial assessment rolls
of Bedford County for 1773. Springhill Township. These people listed: Edward
Askins, John Chadwick, 2 John Taylors, Christopher Beeler, Michael Cresap
(with whom many served in the RW) Total number 121 - many whose names are in
Hardin County, Kentucky area!!! (MKF- these are related names to my people -
except Cresap: he was over some of my people)

3. LORD DUNMORE'S LITTLE WAR OF 1774 (Heritage Books, 2002) *Again, father
or uncle or ??*

Edward p. 42, 63, 64, 80:

p. 29 - "Major John Connolly and His West Augusts County Battalion, Vouchers
on 47 Rolls Filed at Fort Pitt [Pittsburgh], Allegheny County, Pennsylvania"

p.41-42. [Roll 22] Captain Abraham Teagarden's roll. [Washington County,
Pennsylvania] He was paidL54 10sh for 109 days at 10 sh per
diem....Privates...Edward Askins (absonded)...

p. 63. [Roll 15] Wednesday, 20th September [1775]. ...To Edward Askins for
a bullock;...

p. 64 - [Roll 18] Thursday 21st September [1775]. ... To Edward Askins for a
hog;...

p. 80 - [Roll 26] Tuesday, 31st October [1775]. ...To Edward Askins for 3
bullocks & driving...

I think I shared the Lord Dunsmore stuff on Edward Askins before.

Jet, you have given me information before - I am not sure if I shared the
above with you or not. I haven't done anything on this family since we last
corresponded.

Just trying to find others who might be working on this line.

Kathie
