Hi Linda,
I personally have seen no connection, nor any mention of Madison Co., but that doesn't mean anything. I am, for the most part, still gathering info on immediate family members, some of which I have yet to find and stick pretty much in Brecky & Ohio Co.
If Peggy is correct (& I am sure she is), V.B. Burton was a census taker at the age of 15. He took both the 1870 & 1880 Census of Breckinridge. I have not checked to see if he did others. Shame he didn't live to do the 1900, it is almost illegible.
V.B. being the only son and no children makes that particular line end. Too bad.

January 1894 V.B. lived in Rock Lick.

The editor of the paper said he would rather listen to V.B. speak than the political delegates of that day because V.B. had a better understanding of what was happening. (this is the gist just what I remembered, I did not transcribe it)

June 1894-Resolution by Glendeane Sunday School re: John B Hunter. Listed V.B. on the committee. He was also an elected delegate of District #2 that year. "On motion of V.B. Burton the delegates were instructed to invite the nominee (John W. Lewis for Congress) to visit this country during the campaign." And a committee was appointed to draft a resolution of respect in memory of John B. Hunter. V.B. was on that committee too. John B. Hunter, if I remember correctly, had been given a gift of a puppy, the puppy had rabies and bit both him & his son. Unfortunatly, he ended up with hydrophobia (his son was o.k.) and the newspaper had a very long column with very explicit details of John's symptoms & disease until he died. Very graphic.

January 1896 V.B. is of Rockvale.

Sept 1896-The Honorable V.B. Burton will address the people of Patesville, Friday Sept. 25, at night. and McGavock's school house on the 26, at night on the political issues of the day.

July 1897-V.B. Burton on Republican ticket for Sheriff.

(Here could be the biggest departure in the Burtons. I don't know if all the Burton's in my line were Democrats, but I know a couple in Daviess Co. were from their bios. I remember thinking how the family could have split with the Civil War.)

I also photocopied an article he wrote of his trip to the "great North-west".

I have seen the West name but I don't know anything. Would have to do a 'search'. Sorry LInda
Deb
