Hi all...
Wanted to email you all and let you know of the updates and additions to the site. Bettie A. Cook submitted a biography about her g-grandfather, Capt. John P. Cummings, which not only talks of him but also traces the movements of the Company he was in charge of. She also submitted a roster of the 3rd KY Cavalry, Company L, I just haven't had the chance to transcribe it yet... so that is still to go online.
There is a "double listing" for the Matthew/Burch Cemetery. I've not only listed it within the Cemetery Tombstone Photographs project, I've linked it into the Newspaper Articles section. Once pictures of the tombstones become available, I'll unlink it on the Tombstone site, but retain it on the Newspaper Articles site. I am also checking into the multiple names of this particular cemetery. I know it's been listed as the Matthew Cemetery, but I also saw it listed as the Burch Cem. (sourcing within the article listed on the site). I've heard of other old names for the cemetery, so before I place them on the site for future researching help... I want to verify it first with Mrs. Schafer at the Archives.
There are two individuals working on the "W" surnames, so there are portions of the "W's" online. So far many of the "Wa's" are on, as well as the "Wh's" starting with the "Whitworth" surname.
Quite a bit was loaded on today, so here goes:
WWI Draft Registration Card project
"H" surname cards
"Wa" surname cards (most)
"Wh" surname cards (most)
Cemetery Tombstone Photographs Project:
Matthew/Burch Cemetery article- updated article from 2002
(may also be known as the old Macedonia Church Cem.)
Newspaper Articles:
Matthew/Burch Cemetery article-updated article from 2002 (same as above listing)
Biographies:
Capt. John P. Cummings (Civil War veteran; biography gives detail about the Company's movements)
That should do it for now! Y'all have a great one!
Happy Hunting!
