Subject: [KYBRECKI] WALKER family + Husted + Whale + Kennedy?

Hi Dave,

I know Walker is a common name - BUT... I have a William Walker who married
Jane Husted, 31 Oct 1798 in Hardin County, Kentucky. Moses is a very
commonly used name in the Husted family. Jane had a cousin named Moses (my
direct line). William Walker died about 1805, I believe, because the tax
list in 1805 indicates "heirs of William Walker."

BTW, I have not found any offspring of William and Jane Husted Walker.

Gilbert was in Virginia as early as 1777, when he and his (assumed) brothers
signed a peitition to have a new county formed in the Western part of
Augusta County. He was also in Lord's Dunmore's War of 1774. DNA points to
at least my Moses, son of John Husted, coming from NJ Husteds. This John
and Gilbert were supposedly brothers.

Here is a copy of my notes about Walker:

MARRIAGE: Hardin County, Kentucky Marriages, 1798-1809, by Mary Josephine
Jones, pg 26:

1. "Walker, William, and Jane Husted. 31 Oct 1798. Surety Jesse Husted. No
return. Unrecorded." (Jesse is a brother to Jane, I don't know where Gilbert
was at this time...In 1791 he was in Woolford County, Kentucky, 1795 an
interesting Court case involving Gilbert's wife Mary and her "lover" George
Whale in Hardin County, Kentucky, 1799 Gilbert was on the tax rolls in
Hardin County, KY, 1800 he was in Breckinridge County, Kentucky.)

2? "Walker, William, and Nancy Kennedy. 5 Jan 1804. Surety John Walker.
Daniel Kennedy, girl's father, gave written consent; witness John Walker,
Stephen Kennedy. No return. A 17." (Don't know if this is the same William,
a son or ??) (Jesse married a Mrs. Elizabeth McGovern Kennedy in Hardin
County, KY)

Hardin County, Kentucky records online also give this record:
http://www.hccoky.org/recordsearch/search.asp

"William Walker and Elizabeth Rawlings, bond, 20 Dec 1802"

HOW MANY WILLIAM WALKERS IN THIS COUNTY? OR ALL THE SAME???
DEATH: implied by "heirs of William Walker mentioned in 1805 tax list," but
not 1804.

It appears several Virginia (now WVa) families came down to Kentucky with
the Husteds. Walkers, Fishers, Davis, all names found in early Virginia
(now WVa). Unfortunately, also common names...
