Message Board Post:

Frustration and Allen seem to go hand in hand. My mother was an Allen and to be honest I don't think she had one drop of Allen blood! My g-grandfather was Santa Allen b. 1876. I thought he was the son of Cyrus Robinson and Harriet Allen until I got his death cert. which lists his father as Cy Robinson and mother as Matilda Allen who I had thought was his sister. Confused? 1860 census (Breck Co)lists Harriet Adams age 28 and Matilda Adams age 4. 1870 Harriet and Matilda ALLEN are living with Cy Robinson with Harriet as "housekeeper". Add ALLEN children James (5), John W. (3) and Tom (2). Toms 2nd mar. cert lists Bill Allen as his father. 1880 adds ALLEN children Felix (9), Essie (6), Santa (4), and France (2). So I'm looking for a Bill Allen who was in Breckinridge Co. between 1860 and 1870 who then disappears and married? Harriet Adams. I've decided if I achieve nothing else in genealogy, I will solve this mystery. However, the years are creeping by and nary a clu!
e! Are you missing a Bill who might fit?
