I am having some difficulty attempting to work with the Index to
Breckinridge Co KY Cemeteries which is available at www.rootsweb.com/
~usgenweb/ky/breckinridge/tombindex.html.
I think I understand the concept of the color-code map regions as
they are used by the County Cemetery Board, but -- being somewhat
unfamiliar with the geography and layout of the county -- I cannot
figure out how the various color-coded regions fit together. I'm
assuming that if all six of the posted maps (Red, Yellow, Blue,
Clear, Green, White) are pasted together, the entire county will be
covered. But II can't seem to figure out how to hook them together.
It would be very helpful (at least to me) if there was an additional
map posted which covered the entire county and showed how the six
color-coded regions fit together. Is such a map available?
On the web site, each of the color--coded map regions has names
displayed on the map in rectangular boxes (which appear to be city/
town names, but certainly not every city/town) and then a lot of
other name/number pairings. I originally thought these name/number
pairs were cemetery names, but they do not seem to match up with the
color-coded listing of cemetery names that accompany each map (the
Red Section listing for the Red Map, for example). On second look,
maybe these name/number pairings are "names" and "numbers" of county
roads? The numbers do not seem to tie into the posted cemetery
listings at all. Could an explanation be provided as to what is being
displayed on each of the six color-coded maps and how it ties into
the listing of the cemetery names?
These questions having been asked, I guess the real question is
"given that a nearly complete listing of cemetery names is available,
how is the best/easiest way to find the actual location of a
particular cemetery?"
