Mary Cummings

Mary Earl Cummings, 92, a 62-year resident of Edgewater, died of natural causes June 20 at the Spa Creek Center, Genesis HealthCare.
Born March 17, 1915, in Davies County, Ky., Mrs. Cummings graduated from Breckenridge County High School in Hardinsburg, Ky., and attended Strayer Business College in Washington, D.C.
A civil servant, she worked for the Postal Service and was a corporate officer with Cummings and Putnam Inc., a construction company in Edgewater, from 1954 to 1990.
Her interests included duplicate bridge, travel, swimming, bowling and being with her family.
In 1953 she married Herbert W. Cummings who died Sept. 1, 1985.
Surviving are one daughter, Bette Tryon of Los Osos, Calif.; two sons, Wesley Whitelock of Mayo and Lemuel Whitelock of Strasburg, Va.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was the daughter of the late Earl Flemming Wright and Lydia Birkhead Wright.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Kalas Funeral Home, 2973 Solomons Island Road, Edgewater. Services and burial will be private.
