Hey everyone....
Well, after not quite 7 months, the entire listing for Breck. Co.'s World War I Draft Registration Cards are online. There are just shy of 3,800 card name listings with accompanying information that can be read and hopefully further information learned for anyone seeking family.
I emailed everyone involved with the project last night that it was complete and thanked them, and I want to do it publicly as well. To Dorothy Allen, Doug McCamish, Shirley Alexander Miller, Dave Rafferty, Jen Ritchie, Peggy Russell, Donde Smith.... you guys are the BEST! These individuals, like you all, have jobs and families that they took care of and then throughout the week would send in snippets (whatever the size) of card info that I would add to the server. These snippets would add up what you all have seen and what was updated to the website. As I related to them, they have my simple "thanks" but my profound gratitude... as without them, the project would never have been completed. And, as a result, Ancestral Trails Historical Society has taken notice of all the hard work going on with the GenWeb Archives site and is going to do an article about it in their upcoming Winter Quarterly. If Breck. Co. and it's reputation for having people with extreme "Southern Hospitality" aren't known by now, everyone will know about it and it's fantastic researchers when this article comes out.
While there will be a break between projects, it doesn't mean the information going on the website will take a break. Sometime this weekend information donated by Bob McManaway will be added to the Breck. Co. Archives site. He submitted the abstracts of the Breck. Co. Marriage Books #16 - #20 (which covers the years 1883-1896). We're just getting the page formatting ready and once it's complete, I'll be uploading it to the server. There is also the continuing addition/updates to the Cemetery Photograph Transcription project. I received between 45-55 cemeteries from Mrs. Schafer earlier this week, one being Mt. Merino. While I still have Cave Spring UMC to finish typing up, I will get started on typing up the other cemeteries for online placement as well.
I think that about covers it for now. Towards the end of November I'll be putting out the call for transcribing help, so if anyone's interested, be thinking on it and you can let me know then! Y'all have a great one!
Happy Hunting!
