I googled " Ohio River Ferries " & found this on Pope Co., IL boards that explains how to find them.

It tells of several old ferries & a related thread says they show on old tax lists.

If you can find old maps they will show them also.

Here is another: Where do we find out about ferries? I assume there were no bridges at that time. My people were in Nelson, Hardin, LaRue, Breckinridge.
