The foreman for the Cincinnati Cooperage Co. lived in a clapboard house at the end of the Lamar Ryan Road in Breckinridge County, Kentucky. The land subsequently was deeded to a father and brother named Burdette. Early in the 1900s, the Burdettes sold the land and house to James Patrick Keenan, my maternal grandfather. The farm remains in the Keenan family but the old house was destroyed two years ago.
