Henry C Canary b. 3/22/1830 d. 8/2/1895 married Frances A Hanks. Henry and Fannie had a son Robert Taylor Canary. Robert T. married Laura Hix August 30 1887 Breckinridge KY. Robert and Laura had son Hewitt. Laura Hix Canary died shortly after giving birth to Hewitt (staph infection)November 1892. Robert and Hewitt moved back in with Fannie and Henry.
Fannie and Henry raised Hewitt. However due to Laura Hix being of Shawnee Indian descent Fannie would never speak of or acknowledge Hewitt's mother Laura. Story goes that Fannie would not allow Hewitt to visit his Mothers family. Hewitt married Stella Stiff and they had two sons Hershel and Judson. Hershel is my grandfather.
Our stories are similar with H.C. Canary and Frances (Fannie) from Brekenridge Ky. My family has no record of a Samuel, Curtis or Flora. Is this the same Henry Canary? By the way, my family is directly related to David Canray and Henry is the family link to Calamity Jane. Several years ago David Canary did try to locate his family while visiting in Louisville. My mother Beverly Canary tried to contact him but was unable to make contact during his visit.
